Flixlar is still in release candidate / public beta stage, but many of the core foundations are now in place. The app is actively evolving, and the next important step is gathering feedback from real users and real subtitle workflows. If you try Flixlar and run into friction, bugs, workflow issues, or feature ideas, feedback is very welcome ๐ค
Added Effect Editor (beta 1): describe a visual effect in plain language, paste AI-generated canvas code, and preview it live over your video's waveform and duration
Added export of effects as PNG sequence or transparent WebM, with streaming frame capture and a progress bar for long videos
Added "Use as layer" option to save an effect into the project as a reusable, editable layer
Added Layers tab showing the video track plus any saved effect layers, with edit/delete support
Added support for burning saved effect layers directly into the final video export, composited alongside existing watermark/caption rendering
โ Digitally signed
This release is digitally signed for macOS and Windows. On Windows, the verified publisher identity is now shown during installation.
Added caption clip lanes for overlapping subtitles
Before you download for Windows
Windows may show a SmartScreen warning ("Windows protected your PC") the first time you run Flixlar, even though the app is digitally signed. This happens because Windows builds trust in new signed applications gradually, based on how many people have downloaded and run them โ it's not a sign that anything is wrong.
If you see the warning:
Click More info on the SmartScreen screen
Click Run anyway
(Optional) More info also shows the verified publisher name, which should match Flixlar's code-signing certificate
This warning will become less frequent as more people install Flixlar.
